I worked in the bar and kitchen of a surf camp

It was a surf camp, so I suppose recreation/sport.

What duties and responsibilities did it include?

Serving food and alcohol at the bar. Helping out with cooking and serving in the kitchen

How did you find out about the job and what was the application process?

I found out about the job, as my boyfriend’ uncle worked there. He was able to get us in contact with the manager and we basically had the job.

What type of Visa did you need?

Working holiday overseas

Where did you stay/type of accommodation and how did you find it?

We stayed on the beach in a tent, with the rest of the staff. The accommodation came with the job.

Rough idea of the cost of living expenses?

$0. Everything was included over the three months. Including food, accommodation, and leisure: free surfboard gear, free travel to Spain every couple of weeks.

I travelled to Malaysia, before arriving in Europe. After working in the surf camp in France, I travelled to Spain, Italy, Croatia, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium.

Best Attractions, Museums, Tours?

Free walking tour in Hamburg, Plitvice Lakes, Cinque Terre, Venice, Tossa Del Mar, Prague, Gorges du Verdon

The best free activities?

Walking around and exploring cool places, driving through quiet little towns where no tourists go.

Cost saving measures?

Only eating out at dinner time. Driving around Europe and sleeping in our van. Staying with family in The Netherlands. Working for 3 months and spending barely any money.

Met some great friends  who I keep in contact with from the surf camp. Also met some of my family who I hadn’t met in The Netherlands. Made some great friends in Berlin.
